This perfectly situated extended fisherman’s cottage offers two en suite double rooms with glorious river views, both tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished. The High street is just a few minute’s walk away and offers many choices for evening meals at local restaurants and pubs with two micro-breweries also close by. We serve breakfast on the decking in summer and in our cosy dining room at other times of the year providing an extensive offering of cold and hot options with locally sourced produce where possible. There are many local attractions close by that you may wish to visit and lots of local walks along both river and canal paths. We are next to Promenade park with its small interesting museum. There is a combined military services museum close by and The museum of power in Langford. The moot hall and Maeldune heritage centre are both close by and there is always the opportunity to book a trip on one of the Thames sailing barges or other river cruises just a few yards from our Bed and Breakfast. If you are national trust members you may venture onto the remote Northey Island which is the oldest battlefield in Britain (arrange access first)
Just a little further afield you will find St Peter’s chapel Bradwell built in 654; Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome; Mersea Island with the wild Cudmore Grove Country Park and West Mersea beach. We are also conveniently situated between Beth Chatto gardens and RHS Garden Hyde Hall.
