Dover Castle

Experience the greatest of English fortresses, standing at the gateway to Britain on the iconic White Cliffs. Dover’s history spans from the Roman era to the Cold War, with the medieval fortress standing above networks of Secret Wartime Tunnels. You can even visit the oldest surviving Roman lighthouse in England.

Take a tour of the tunnels and WWII underground hospital, and see where the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk was masterminded. Climb the Great Tower to meet one of England’s most powerful kings, and enjoy live historic interpretation, bringing the castle to life on selected days.

Walk in the footsteps of past kings and commanders, witness gun firing drills, take in stunning panoramic views and enjoy action packed events.  An incredible day out, which you’ll hold onto for a lifetime!

If you’re holidaying on the Kentish coast, two holiday cottages located on site also mean you can stay in the incredible setting of Dover Castle, and have the site all to yourself outside of normal opening hours.
